Object First, the provider of
Ootbi (Out-of-the-Box-Immutability), the ransomware-proof backup storage
appliance purpose-built for Veeam, announced three new Ootbi
appliances with capacities of 20 TB, 40 TB, and 432 TB. Customers
ranging from small businesses to large enterprises can now leverage
Ootbi's immutable backup storage to ensure data resilience for use cases
ranging from 20 TB up to 7 PB. The latest product firmware updates also
yield a 20% increase in recovery speeds on all new appliances, while
the 432 TB model has doubled data ingest speeds up to 8 GB/s per
cluster.
As ransomware continues to threaten businesses, they are increasingly
recognizing the need for immutable storage as the foundation of their
data resilience strategy. According to recent research commissioned by Informa TechTarget's Enterprise Strategy Group,
almost every organization (96%) that has experienced a ransomware
attack in the past two years reported their backup data has been
targeted at least once.
"81% of IT professionals say that immutable backup storage is the best
defense against ransomware. This comes alongside the need for
comprehensive security overall, stronger integrated features, and
enhanced compliance with Zero Trust," said Simon Robinson, Principal
Analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. "Object First is effectively
addressing the market, not just for immutable storage, but for better
immutable storage in a simple form factor that ensures recovery is not
only available but expedient."
With the expansion of its product line, Object First is enabling more
organizations-from small businesses to large enterprises-to
ransomware-proof their operations. New capabilities include:
-
More Use Cases: Object First now offers smaller Ootbi appliances with 20 TB and 40 TB capacities and the largest to date-a 432
TB appliance that can scale up to 1.7 PB in a 4-node cluster. For
customers needing even more capacity, Ootbi environments can expand
beyond 7 PB of immutable storage when integrated with a Veeam Scale-Out
Backup Repository (SOBR).
-
More Performance: Alongside new hardware comes increased
performance. The latest firmware version is even more optimized for
backup, yielding 10-20% faster Veeam ingest and restore speeds for all
new Ootbi appliances. The 432 TB model has doubled data ingest speed, up
to 8 GB/s on a four-node cluster.
-
More Value: Existing customers can fully take advantage of these
latest announcements, as new and existing hardware can always be mixed
and matched regardless of purchase date.
"Every business of any size needs access to backup storage with true
immutability as the last line of defense against ransomware," said David
Bennett, CEO at Object First. "Our new Ootbi models give customers
tremendous flexibility to mix and match the appliances that make the
most sense for their use case while also delivering increased
performance in both data ingest and recovery speeds for greater data
resilience."
