Asigra Inc., a leading cloud backup, recovery and restore
software provider since 1986, today announced that the Public and Commercial
Services Union (PCS) has deployed Asigra Cloud Backup Evolved V14 powered data
protection services by Data2Vault to strengthen its security and compliance
position. PCS made the decision to upgrade in order to protect backup data
against ransomware attacks and for compliance with the General Data Protection
Regulation (GDPR). Installation of the project was part of a larger initiative
to optimize the company's infrastructure by leveraging technologies and
services from Asigra, Data2Vault and MillerTech.
PCS is one of the largest trade unions in the United
Kingdom with approximately 300,000 members. The trade union is organised
throughout civil service and government agencies, making it the largest civil
service trade union in the country. With hundreds of thousands of records under
management, regulatory requirements related to the General Data Protection
Regulation (GDPR) and the growing presence of ransomware, PCS made the decision
to audit its IT environment, calling on Data2Vault and Asigra to optimise the
security and compliance areas of its data protection infrastructure.
Asigra Cloud Backup Evolved (V14) is the first of its
kind to integrate data protection and malware defense/anti-ransomware security
in order to protect backup data and ensure safe, secure and reliable data
recovery on-demand. The cloud service enabling platform offers the only
zero-day Attack-Loop preventative technology, protecting secondary storage
data using bi-directional malware detection, zero-day exploit protection,
variable repository naming, and two-factor authentication (2FA). The software
also includes GDPR compliance enabling capabilities to address requirements in
Articles 6, 17, 25, and 32 of the regulation, including support for the Right
of Erasure, allowing the deletion of backup data and providing a certificate of
evidence as an Effective Response to the Information Commissioner's Office
(ICO) in Europe.
"Information technology must be able to adapt as
operating conditions require in order to stay ahead of potential challenges. We
have been very pleased with our enhanced data protection environment as it adds
layers of protection that situate the organisation well in the event of
ransomware attacks or compliance audits. We highly recommend MillerTech,
Data2Vault, and Asigra to businesses and non-profits seeking to up their game
in IT and data protection," said Andrew Simpson, Head of IT and Facilities,
Public and Commercial Services Union.
"PCS has engaged Data2Vault's GDPR Accelerator programme
which quickly gets organisations on track with the regulation at an affordable
rate. To gain momentum in the programme, clients such as PCS apply a quick win
methodology, where self-contained, non-disruptive actions can be taken to yield
immediate results without compromising the overall compliance objective. Asigra
Cloud Backup Evolved V14 has been a critical addition to the programme," said
Mark Saville, Director, Data2Vault.
"Ransomware Attack-Loops and GDPR requirements
pose significant financial risks to organisations, who now require data
protection technologies designed to address these new concerns. The issues
faced by PCS presented the ideal use case for Asigra Cloud Backup Evolved (V14)
and we are pleased to see the solution perform as designed. We thank our
partners Data2Vault and MillerTech for their roles in delivering this next
generation technology to PCS," said Eran Farajun, Executive Vice President,
Asigra.
