Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop Management Packs for SCOM Explained

This post discusses the performance and scale of two crucial services that are deployed with Citrix SCOM Management Pack for XenApp and XenDesktop in order to monitor health, availability and performance of XenApp and XenDesktop infrastructure:

  1. XenApp/XenDesktop Management Pack Agent (MPXAXDAgent)
  2. Operations Manager Agent/Microsoft Monitoring Agent (HealthService)

Observations

We observed the two services in a XenApp and XenDesktop environment setup in our test lab.

XenApp/XenDesktop Environment

  • 4400 Desktop VDI
  • 600 Server VDI
  • 500 Apps
  • 10000 Active Sessions
