RackWare, Inc.,
the leader in enabling comprehensive cloud computing management for the
enterprise, today released version 5.0 of its flagship offering, RackWare Management Module (RMM).
RMM 5.0 is the latest generation of a powerful enterprise software that
allows companies to scale across private, public, or hybrid cloud
environments more easily, seamlessly and cost-effectively than ever
before. New features and functionality in RackWare's RMM 5.0 include:
-
Whitelist/blacklist drives - flexible support for networked storage
and the ability to mark networked drives as whitelist or blacklist and
selectively include them for migration to the cloud
- Backup wizard - includes policy configuration on top of a disaster
recovery policy. Users can configure two sets of recovery points -
short-term and long-term.
- Single file restore
- Auto provisioning for VMware vSphere and VMware vCloud Director
- Openstack Auto provisioning
- Data Guard - disaster recovery (DR) policy integration with Oracle Data Guard
"With RMM 5.0, we have complemented our robust
disaster recovery features with backup," stated Sash Sunkara, CEO,
RackWare, Inc. "Historically, there was DR and there was backup and they
were separate installations. DR was very expensive and hardware
focused. With cloud technology, we're able to merge backup and DR
technology. Today, you can have a comprehensive solution and strategy.
DR no longer has to be hardware-centric and can be merged with your
backup strategy. This is a radical new approach with many benefits."
"Our goals were to achieve greater flexibility
in order to meet the requirements of our aggressive business continuity
initiatives. RackWare offered us a powerful solution that allowed us to
focus on our critical systems while positioning ourselves for future
initiatives," said Joseph Tufano, vice president and CIO, St. John's
University.
"VMware vCloud Air allows organizations to
write, deploy, and manage applications in the cloud the same way they do
today with existing on-premises infrastructure. With RMM 5.0 and vCloud
Air, enterprise IT organizations can provide a high level of protection
for their company's workloads, including cloud-to-cloud replication,
databases, physical servers, and multi-hypervisor replication, while
driving greater efficiencies by protecting - but not pre-provisioning -
workloads," said Ajay Patel, senior vice president, Product Development,
Cloud Services, VMware.
"By combining cloud technology with RackWare
technology, we're bringing in a new era of disaster recovery and backup.
RMM 5.0 addresses the requirements and expectations of our customers:
flexibility, scalability, mobility and seamless access to applications
and data anytime, anywhere," said Sunkara.
